API Governance Framework

The ECO Portal API is governed by a framework that ensures stability, predictability, and reliability for all members. All changes are overseen by the ECO Portal Steering Committee.

Versioning Strategy

We follow semantic versioning (MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH) to communicate the nature of changes:

  • Major: Breaking changes (e.g., removing endpoints). Requires 6 months notice.
  • Minor: New functionality without breaking existing integrations (e.g., new fields).
  • Patch: Bug fixes and documentation corrections.

Change Management

Any ECO Platform member can propose changes. Requests are reviewed by the Steering Committee, with decisions made by majority vote to ensure the needs of the community are met.

Steering Committee Composition

Includes representatives from ECO Platform, different Program Operators, and User Groups to ensure balanced governance.
